Talk at Oya: Iran, the Diaspora, and the War – What to Say, What to Do?
March 24 · 7:00 PM · Free entry
(The event will be held in German.)
Another collective trauma, another war — for many people in Iran, one catastrophe is currently following the next. After the massacre in January, the war involving Israel and the United States is now shaking the region, leaving many of us in the diaspora in a constant state of tension. As we wait for news from our families, the discourse around a possible “aftermath” of the Islamic regime is simultaneously shifting — often in directions that are difficult to bear from a humanist perspective.
How do we navigate this simultaneity?
The reality of bombings in Iranian cities, the violence of an oppressive regime — and a diaspora debate that is becoming increasingly polarized and dehumanizing?
This evening is an attempt to pause. Together, we want to create a space where we can speak — without simplification, without ideological reduction. A space for collective experiences, for doubt, for contradictions. A space where listening is just as important as speaking.
