DeColonia LAB returns for its first edition of 2026, inviting participants to spend an afternoon exploring rituals, belonging, and collective meaning-making at maarket Café in Cologne-Ehrenfeld.

Rituals shape how we connect to one another, to places, and to ourselves. They create moments of belonging, mark transitions, and help communities carry memories across generations. Yet what happens when rituals are removed from their original contexts? What is lost, what remains, and how can they continue to create meaning in new environments?

Throughout the afternoon, artists from different disciplines will invite participants to explore these questions together through movement, voice, conversation, and collective practice. Rather than observing from the outside, everyone is encouraged to take part in an open process of discovery, experimentation, and shared creation.

DeColonia LAB offers a space to reflect on cultural traditions, personal habits, and emerging forms of community. Together, we will examine how rituals travel, transform, and continue to shape our lives.
