EVENT DETAILS

Newroz / Nowruz 2026 at Kulturbunker Köln-Mülheim

Newroz is just around the corner — a celebration of renewal, hope, and coming together.

Once again, Kulturbunker Köln-Mülheim and korsi have joined forces to create a shared program, shaping a day where art, music, and meaningful encounters take center stage. A space to gather across generations, backgrounds, and lived experiences.

And yet, this Newroz feels different.

The news from Iran and Kurdistan weighs heavily on many of us. It brings grief, anger, and deep concern. That is precisely why coming together matters now more than ever — not to escape what is happening, but to face it collectively. To hold space for one another. To make solidarity tangible.

We do not celebrate Newroz out of nostalgia, but because culture connects, sustains hope, and continues to live through us. Creating spaces for encounter and sharing solidarity gives strength — and that is exactly what this day is about.

Newroz is more than a celebration.
It is a reminder. A commitment.

That after every long night, light returns.
That culture, resistance, and memory stay alive when we carry them together.
That our voices must not fall silent — especially when speaking up feels urgent.

We want to open a space where everything can exist at once:
Grief and anger.
Closeness and tenderness.
Hope and connection.

A space to celebrate our cultures, share stories, listen, dance, reflect — and move forward together.

What to expect:

– Children’s program with Newroz stories and crafts
– Photo exhibition
– Newroz bazaar
– Reading and panel talk (KANAX4LIFE)
– Live concerts (Dodan, Azizam, Volkan Karacay and more)
– DJ sets (Monita Wagma, Scherwin, Shams and more)
– Fire dance
– Finger food, çay, and special drinks
– Kurdish specialties by Café Tore
– and much more (to be announced)

Tickets are available via www.rausgegangen.de or through the link in bio.

Part of the proceeds will go to Frieden und Hoffnung e.V., an initiative supporting people in need in the Middle East — regardless of cultural or religious identity — with a particular focus on children and families affected by war and violence.

Our Newroz festival is a space for everyone who engages with others in a respectful and appreciative way. Discriminatory, dehumanizing, or violent speech and actions will not be tolerated.

Note:

  • “Newroz” includes all spellings and cultural variations of the celebration (e.g. Newroz, Nowruz, Nawruz, Norooz, Novruz, Nevruz, Navruz, Nouruz, Nauruz).
  • Children under 12 do not require a ticket.

Here’s to a new day.
