“The magic of songs comes from finding your own emotions within the melody of the language, beyond just understanding the words. When we share the identity we have built through our experiences, we see how many stories we have in common.”
Turkish singer Dila Yavuz connects people through her music and gives her listeners a shared experience that transcends language barriers. Taking us on a journey to her musical roots, Dila reaches from the depths of jazz’s cultural world to the modern world, sharing with us lyrics blended with the melody of the Turkish language. “Every language has its own character. My songs are simply the stories I tell in the language I speak in my dreams, within the boundaries of my musical world.”
Dila’s stage persona and music, which touches on her roots, invites her listeners to a “foreign” conversation with their own worlds.
After completing her Jazz bachelor degree in Istanbul, Dila Yavuz continued her academic career in Cologne. Here, she received her master’s degree in Jazz Singing at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. Dila began her musical journey at a young age and specialized in jazz music throughout her professional career. Today, she finds her own nuances in jazz and blends them with Turkish lyrics and materials she identifies with in Turkish music, presenting them to us.
