Burak Fahri İçer, known as Burakete, is a DJ and curator whose sets dive deep into the many layers of Turkish music — from groove and disco to oriental psychedelic sounds. His selections bridge eras and aesthetics, creating a vibrant dialogue between nostalgia and contemporary rhythm.
Born and raised in Germany, Burakete has long been a key figure in Cologne’s music scene. Since 2007, he has been shaping spaces such as Türkische Delikatessen and Süperdisko, which have become central platforms for Turkish and diasporic sounds. Through these events, he celebrates cultural hybridity and reclaims soundscapes often trapped in stereotypes — transforming them into bold, playful expressions of joy and community.
Burakete’s work is both archival and forward-looking: he revives forgotten tunes, reframes classics, and connects them to new grooves and audiences. In his hands, music becomes a bridge between generations, a dance floor history lesson, and an invitation to move beyond clichés.
