We’re excited to introduce a new Korsi format and a new gathering place.
On Saturday, 11 July 2026, we’ll come together at Pflanzstelle Kalk for an afternoon dedicated to torshi, backgammon, tea, and community. As part of Kalkfest, this gathering invites everyone to spend time outdoors, share knowledge, exchange recipes, and enjoy the simple pleasure of making things together.
Torshi (ترشی | طرشي | Turşu | Tirşî | مُخَلَّل) is a family of pickled vegetables found across many cultures and kitchens throughout Southwest Asia, North Africa, the Balkans, and beyond. While the ingredients, techniques, and names may differ from place to place, the idea remains remarkably similar: preserving vegetables, sharing recipes, and debating whose version is best.
The concept is simple: everyone makes their own torshi.
We will provide basic materials such as jars, vinegar, and salt where needed, along with vegetables from the garden and rescued produce from local food-sharing initiatives. Throughout the day, experienced torshi makers will be available to guide, advise, and passionately defend their preferred methods.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own jars, vegetables, spices, recipes, and family techniques. If you plan to bring ingredients, please make sure they are washed and thoroughly dried at least one day beforehand.
Alongside the pickling station, there will be a dedicated backgammon corner. If you own a board, bring it with you—we only have a limited number available.
The event operates on a contribution basis. Everyone is welcome, whether you arrive with a secret recipe passed down through generations or simply with curiosity and a desire to spend time together.
If it rains, we will either build one giant umbrella large enough for everyone or find another weather-proof solution and keep participants updated.
Contribution: Everything is on a contribution basis.
