Monita Wagma

Monita Wagma is a radio broadcaster & DJ. Since 2017, her DJ sets tell stories without explaining.
She hosts Cup of Tea monthly on 674.FM (Cologne); every other month she’s on air with Maenad Transmission, live from Studio Néau (Eupen, Belgium).

Monita Wagma’s sets are shaped by interdisciplinary work and a love for music as a living archive: genres blur, contexts shift, and sound becomes a document of the present.

In times of socio-political exhaustion, it becomes even more important to activate one’s own resources and ask: what gives me confidence and a sense of connection? With this in mind, she prepares her selection for March 21st by diving into the pop productions that shaped her Afghan dancing as a diaspora kid.

We might dance to those sounds and their linguistic and regional neighbours, making everyone go wild — or, as they say in Dari: Let’s get mast. Tshak Tshak
