Aylin (aka Kaz) is an author, presenter, and format developer working at the intersection of journalism, pop culture, and digital media. She is the face of the TikTok news format “nicetoknow” at the WDR Newsroom, where she covers political, social, and cultural topics relevant to younger audiences.
Beyond online formats, Aylin regularly speaks on stages and at events, including TEDxYouth Munich, re:publica, C/O Pop Festival, Reeperbahnfestival, as well as collaborations with ARD, Disney, Magenta Musik, Frauen100, and others.
Her work extends strongly into format and concept development. As Head of Concept and Format Development, she has led major TikTok implementations such as the 1LIVE Krone, and developed formats for COSMO and 1LIVE. She also facilitates workshops and trainings on TikTok, Generation Z, and digital storytelling for institutions including Sportschau, ARD Mediathek, funk, KSTA, Amadeu Antonio Stiftung, and international broadcasters.
Aylin’s thematic focus spans pop culture and aesthetics alongside structural issues such as racism, sexism, Islamophobia, classism, and media responsibility. Shaped by her Bangladeshi migration background, her work also critically engages with capitalism, colonialism, and climate change, particularly in relation to South Asia.
